Old Fashioned Dockside Cane-Pole Fishing

An inexpensive old-fashioned Cane Pole fishing experience, complete with worms, is available at both Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds and at Port Orleans Riverside. No advance reservations are necessary. This is also a catch-and-release program and the well-stocked fishing area almost guarantees a catch. The cost is $4.02 for 30 minutes or $8.86 for a full day's rental. There is a family deal (up to six people) that costs $13.32 for 30 minutes. These prices were checked August 2007.

Fishing Excursions at Walt Disney World Resort

A vacation full of thrill rides, waterslides, and shows is perfect for some but, for others, a vacation just is not a vacation if you do not get in a little fishing. Walt Disney World is a full service resort that seeks to cater to that desire by offering Guided Fishing Excursions. No, you will not be dropping your line into the big tank at Epcot's Living Seas exhibit – you will be spending two wonderful hours on the lakes of Walt Disney World Resort. And although the fishing is on a catch-and-release system, you will retain full bragging rights because digital photos are available. Each fishing excursion has room for up to five of your friends or family. Those who want first crack at the fish or to be able to join the rest of their family for a day at the parks can take part in a 7:00 a.m. excursion. Those who believe that getting up early is not compatible with vacationing can go on a 10:00 a.m. trip. There is also a 1:30 PM excursion that costs a little less than the earlier excursions because the fishing is a little harder. Extended fishing excursions can be arranged, if desired.

Cost: the 7:00 & 10:00 AM excursions are $235, the 1:30 PM excursion is $200. 

You do not need a Florida Fishing license because you are fishing on private property.

Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. Reservations are required; 24 hours advance notice is necessary for cancellations. A credit card number is required to make a reservation.
